Wednesday, 13 April, 2011

23:00

23:00

Themis Tantalakis: Good evening, welcome to Livetube.fm for a very special tribute to one of the most successful British Indie Rock bands, Editors!

23:01

Themis Tantalakis: Without further ado, let’s start with the band’s debut single back in 2005, “Bullets” .

23:01

Editors - "Bullets"

23:02

Themis Tantalakis: Note that this video is the first version of the music video for the very same song.

23:04

[Alex]: Good evening. Excellent idea this tribute!

23:04

[Katerina PistoLike]: good evening sirrrr

23:04

Themis Tantalakis: A couple of months after “Bullets” hit the shelves of the music stores, another single was released. “Munich” was the band’s first Top 25 hit. Enjoy the band performing this great song , five years later, on the Glastonbury stage!

23:09

[Guest]: Go EDITORS!!!!!!

23:09

Themis Tantalakis: On to our journey..Another single release followed the very same year. This time, it was “Blood” , reaching #18 in the UK Singles Chart. Watch Editors performing it live at Rock am Ring Festival in 2006.

23:09

Editors - "Blood"

23:12

[Dj ZaChs]: i can see u' ve done some great work here...good evening Themis, well done keep it this way :-)

23:12

[aglx]: Keep on

23:13

Themis Tantalakis: Their debut album “The Back Room” was released in on July 25, 2005. After a successful set of live performances and  a platinum re-relase of “Munich” , Editors released another single from that album , “All Sparks” in March 2006.

23:13

Editors - "All sparks"

23:15

Themis Tantalakis: Hey Dj Zachs, thanks a lot :)

23:17

Themis Tantalakis: Editors’ second album “An End has a start” was released in June 2007. A week before the album was preceded by another single, “Smokers outside the hospital doors”. This song was actually the album’s opening track.

23:17

23:19

Themis Tantalakis: Hey anonymous guest(s), thanks for your comments... Why don't you share your (nick)name with us? :-)

23:22

Themis Tantalakis: The title track of that album was destined to be the album’s second single. In my humble opinion, it has to be among the top-5 Editors songs. Enjoy.

23:22

Editors - :An end has a start"

23:24

[Catriona]: I'm the anonymous guest!!

23:24

[Vasilist]: Geia sas kai apo emena paidia! Geia soy Themi!

23:25

[Guest]: hey

23:26

Themis Tantalakis: Interestingly, the band contributed to a collection of cover tunes, a compilation called “Radio 1 Established 1967” . Editors covered Cure’s “Lullaby”.

23:26

Editors - "Lullaby"

23:28

[Catriona]: Pull something good from the ashes now be still

23:29

Themis Tantalakis: Catriona's referring to the previous track... Hard to get over it, for sure! :-) (Comments are received with a small delay - no worries tho!)

23:29

[Giannis Beris]: great "session" sounds ;) ty themis... ;)

23:30

[Dj NaRko]: Καλησπέρα :)

23:30

Themis Tantalakis: Hey Narko! :)

23:30

Themis Tantalakis: As 2007 drew to a close, Editors released their third single from “An end has a start”. “The Racing Rats” reached #26 in the UK and #12 in the Netherlands.

23:31

Editors - "The racing rats"

23:32

[Catriona]: words spell from my drunken mouth, i just cant keep em all in

23:35

Themis Tantalakis: During 2008, Editors performed across Britain, giving (amongst others) two sold-out gigs in London. In the meantime another single was released, “Push your head towards the air”.

23:35

Editors - "Push Your Head Towards The Air"

23:38

[Catriona]: Did anyone buy the Unedited: Collection, way to expensive for me!! i just bought the download.

23:39

Themis Tantalakis: Catriona I didn't... But then again, I don't think the money you spend makes you more of a "hardcore" fan than anyone else! :)

23:39

Themis Tantalakis: ( Not that I wouldn't want to buy it, of course - lol! )

23:40

[Catriona]: its sold out anyway

23:41

Themis Tantalakis: That summer, “Bones”, one of the album’s greatest songs, was released as a download-only single. At the same time, they supported R.E.M. at 16 live shows across Europe.

23:41

Editors - "Bones"

23:41

Themis Tantalakis: Catriona - Maybe you'll see some of these on E-Bay in the near future!

23:42

[Catriona]: Love the bassline on this one!!

23:42

[Vasilist]: fovero kommati!!!

23:45

Themis Tantalakis: Before this tour, however, Editors performed at the Glastonbury festival. Their setlist included a new song called “No sound but the wind”. (Video taken from the official Editors Channel on YouTube, and shot at Rock Wercht)

23:45

Editors - "No Sound But The Wind"

23:46

Themis Tantalakis: Note that this song was included in the soundtrack of the movie "The Twilight Saga : The New Moon", out in 2009!

23:47

[Catriona]: The Studio: Full Band version is much better. This one is too boring!

23:47

Themis Tantalakis: Catriona, I chose it because of the reactions of a specific guy in the crowd.. Thought it was worth it :)

23:49

[Catriona]: i know its hilarious

23:49

Themis Tantalakis: Before moving on to the next album, I'd like to  include an unofficial Editors video in this tribute. It's a video of one my favourite songs from "An end has a start", and I'm sure a lot of Editors fans like it as well !

23:49

Editors - "When Anger Shows"

23:53

[Catriona]: Very nice video. the guitar bit a 3.25 is my favourite

23:55

Themis Tantalakis: The band’s third album, “In this light and on this evening” was released on October 12, 2009.

23:55

Themis Tantalakis: The most “catchy” and popular song out of this album was, undoubtedly , “Papillon”. This song was the first single of the album. (Video taken from the official Editors Channel on YouTube, "editorsofficial")

00:09

[Catriona]: i love watching them acoustic. it shows their raw talent. none of this autotuned rubbish

00:09

Themis Tantalakis: The third official single from "In this light..." was "Eat raw meat = blood drool". It was the final non-digital single of the album, up to today. (Video taken from the official Editors Channel on YouTube, "editorsofficial")

00:10

Editors - "Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool"

00:15

Themis Tantalakis: Another acoustic version of an Editors song is up next. This time , it’s the sweetly melancholic acoustic version of "An end has a start" ...

00:19

[Guest]: thanx Themis for a wonderful tribute

00:19

Themis Tantalakis: Actualy, it was never released as a single. It has to be my all-time favourite song from Editors, however, and I thought I should include it in this tribute.
